Job Details

- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (rotation every 4 weeks)
- On-Call: Required
- Patient Ratio: 1:1–2
- Floating: Required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Healthcare Setting: University hospital Neuro ICU / neuroscience unit
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU / neurocritical care nursing experience (preferred travel nursing experience)
- Current RN license — compact RN accepted or Ohio RN license required at time of submission (Ohio nursing jobs)
- BLS and ACLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
- Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Epic EHR experience (electronic health record experience preferred)
- Two professional references (at least one manager/director or formal leadership reference)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care for adult patients with ischemic/hemorrhagic strokes, neuromuscular disorders, meningitis, seizures, and post-neurosurgical needs
- Monitor and manage intracranial pressure (ICP), ventilators, and telemetry in the Neuro ICU
- Perform IV starts, arterial line management, and administer emergency/critical care medications
- Care for ventilated patients and manage central lines and PICC lines
- Assist with bedside procedures such as tracheostomy care, PEG management, and EVD monitoring
- Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed to support staffing across critical care and step-down units
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, PT, RT, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Maintain infection prevention protocols, isolation precautions, and patient safety standards
