Required Qualifications (Neuro ICU RN)
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience; Neuro ICU experience preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience required (travel RN)
- Active RN license: compact multi-state RN license or Ohio RN license in hand at time of submission
- Graduated from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Ability to float to other units within the organization as needed
- Two professional references required (one from manager/director or formal leadership)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Core Responsibilities – Neurocritical Care & ICU Nursing
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to adult Neuro ICU patients, including ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, seizures, neuromuscular disorders, and post-op neurosurgical cases
- Manage invasive neuromonitoring (EVD, ICP monitoring), continuous EEG monitoring, and patients on mechanical ventilation
- Administer emergency medications and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips; manage continuous IV sedation
- Perform and manage bedside procedures: tracheostomy care, PEG care, central and arterial line maintenance, lumbar drains
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams (neurosurgery, neurology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, radiology, pharmacy) to coordinate patient-centered care
- Maintain infection prevention protocols and adhere to isolation precautions/PPE requirements
- Participate in self-scheduling, provide weekend coverage as required, and float to other units when needed
