Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) role in Roanoke, VA — EPIC charting, ACLS/BLS, 2+ years critical care experience. Join a Resource Nursing Pool at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center caring for adult and geriatric patients in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains.
Job Details
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse)
- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 — Roanoke healthcare jobs / Virginia travel nursing
- Duration: 13 weeks (4/27/2026 – 7/27/2026)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
- Shifts: 3x12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Floating: Required between all ICU and PCU units; may float 2-3 times per shift (Float Pool / Resource Nursing)
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block or every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: At least 1 holiday per 13-week contract
- Charting: EPIC (required)
Job Requirements
- Active RN license (Virginia or Compact State) — critical care RN / ICU Registered Nurse
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience in a large Level I or Level II facility preferred
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- EPIC charting experience required
- Clinical skills: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, blood product administration, ventilator management
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
Responsibilities
- Float between all ICU and PCU units as needed, adapting to changing patient acuity and staffing needs (float pool RN duties)
- Provide comprehensive critical care for adult and geriatric patients in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center environment
- Manage IV therapy, arterial and central line care, blood product administration, and wound care (including wound vacs and drains)
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
- Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and follow IV insulin and other critical care protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
- Document care accurately and efficiently using EPIC electronic health record
- Maintain strict infection prevention and isolation precautions
