Travel CVICU Registered Nurse (Night Shift) – New Brunswick, NJ | 13-week critical care RN assignment; minimum 2 years CVICU experience required.

- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Location: New Brunswick, NJ (08901) — New Jersey travel nursing / New Jersey nursing jobs
- Setting: Cardio Thoracic ICU (CVICU) — Cardiac ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU
- Shifts: 12-hour nights (19:00 - 07:30), 3 shifts per week — Night shift Travel Nurse
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,360 – $2,480
- Start Date: April 27, 2026
- Floating: Required to all ICUs, PACU, ED for ICU holding patients, and all IMC units
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday as applicable
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years current CVICU experience (SICU experience may be considered with initial CVICU training)
- Active NJ RN license or Compact RN license (required at time of submission) — New Jersey RN
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required at time of submission)
- Experience with post-op open heart recovery: CABG, MVR, AVR, TAVR, fresh heart cases
- Proficient with invasive monitoring: Swan-Ganz, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, lumbar drains
- Experience with advanced cardiac devices: Impella, IABP, temp pacers; CRRT using Prismax preferred
- Epic charting experience preferred (Epic CVICU documentation)
- Ability to safely float within skillset to other critical care areas (ICU, IMC, PACU, ED)
- Must be available to work 2 of 3 major holidays during the contract
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the CVICU, including fresh open heart cases and complex cardiac surgery recovery
- Monitor and manage ventilators, chest tubes, lumbar drains, and advanced circulatory support devices (Impella, IABP, temp pacers)
- Administer emergency medications, titrate vasoactive and inotropic drips, and manage post-op hemodynamic stabilization
- Interpret arterial blood gases, manage central and arterial lines, and respond to rapid changes in patient condition
- Care for patients on CRRT (Prismax) and manage hemodynamic support devices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services
- Float to other critical care units as needed, adapting to varying patient ratios and acuity levels
- Document care accurately and efficiently using Epic (preferred) — strong critical care charting skills
