- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,460 - $1,570
- Location: Chicago, IL 60607 (Downtown / Central Chicago)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract – Hospital Respiratory Therapist
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts
- Shifts per Week: 3
- Hours per Week: 36
- Start Date: ASAP
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Valid respiratory therapist certification or state license (RRT preferred)
- Minimum 1 year of hospital respiratory therapy experience (acute care / critical care experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to work independently on night shift with minimal supervision
- Strong communication, patient education, and teamwork skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care and safe patient transport per physician orders
- Evaluate patients, recommend respiratory treatment plans, and implement prescribed therapies
- Administer ventilatory support (invasive and non-invasive), manage mechanical ventilation, and titrate oxygen therapy
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, continuous oximetry and capnography monitoring, and review chest x-rays
- Perform 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function testing
- Assist with bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and arterial puncture as required
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and ventilators; ensure equipment safety and cleanliness
- Document treatments and patient responses accurately, communicate with physicians, and participate in shift-to-shift handoffs
- Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and complete other duties as assigned
