Job Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – valid Respiratory Therapist license required
- Minimum 1 year of hospital-based Respiratory Therapist experience (ICU/critical care experience a plus)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong communication, patient education, and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care and safe patient transport as medically prescribed
- Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator settings; troubleshoot ventilator alarms and deliver ventilator care
- Evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and perform respiratory assessments
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment, and discharge instructions
- Perform physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen/aerosol devices, and nebulizers
- Conduct chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography, and routine chest x-ray reviews
- Perform 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies (PFTs)
- Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and arterial punctures (ABG sampling)
- Operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment and other respiratory devices
- Accurately document treatments, patient responses, and respiratory therapy charges in the medical record
- Communicate effectively with physicians and participate in thorough shift-to-shift handoff reports
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and department operations
