Job Requirements / Nurse Qualifications
- At least 1 year of current Med/Surg RN experience within the last 3 years (Med/Surg RN, medical-surgical experience)
- Valid RN license — compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission (Ohio RN, compact RN)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Graduated from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Epic charting system experience required (Epic EMR experience)
- Ability to float to other MS Tele units of equivalent or lower acuity (telemetry/PCU float)
- Two professional references required (one from manager/director or formal leadership; second may be from a Charge RN)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required — oncology nurse, chemotherapy familiarity a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to medical oncology patients in a mixed-acuity PCU/MS Tele unit (oncology nursing, Med/Surg care)
- Manage a wide variety of patient diagnoses including solid tumors and hematologic cancers
- Monitor telemetry and utilize specialized equipment: GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation systems
- Document patient care accurately in Epic EMR and follow established clinical workflows
- Adhere to infection prevention, fall prevention, and safety protocols
- Participate in professional development opportunities, including a 2-day chemotherapy course if interested (chemotherapy training available)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Rapid Response Teams
- Float to other units as needed based on staffing priorities and complete orientation and training as scheduled
