Join a dynamic healthcare team in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, as a Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN). This travel nurse opportunity is based in a 42-bed Medical Respiratory Unit focused on acute and chronic respiratory care. Work in a collaborative environment with daily interdisciplinary rounds, broaden your clinical skills by floating to other units and hospitals as needed, and gain experience caring for complex medical-surgical and telemetry patients.

- Start Date: May 4, 2026

- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12 Hour Days (07:00–19:00), every other weekend, holidays as required
- Hours per Week: 36 (option for up to 48 hours per week available)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,840 – $1,940 (Estimated travel nurse pay)
- Dress Code: Solid Navy Scrubs
- Parking: Available on-site
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama or an active Compact RN license (no temporary licenses accepted)
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred (Alabama nursing jobs often seek ADN or BSN)
- American Heart Association or Red Cross BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred; will consider candidates with at least 18 months of experience, including 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry (telemetry nurse) experience
- Comfortable floating to other units and hospitals as needed (float pool / travel nurse flexibility)
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR is a plus (experience with electronic charting/clinical documentation)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions (pneumonia, COPD, pulmonary disease) and other medical-surgical diagnoses
- Monitor cardiac telemetry, recognize dysrhythmias, and escalate concerns per protocol (telemetry monitoring)
- Manage medication administration, respiratory therapies, wound care, and post-surgical nursing needs
- Deliver nursing care across a diverse patient population including GI, diabetes, stroke, and post-op patients
- Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:6 on the main unit and 1:4 in the respiratory step-down unit
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate care, discharge planning, and optimize patient outcomes
- Float to other units and hospitals as required, supporting team-based care and continuity across departments
- Adhere to facility policies, including dress code and holiday scheduling; document care accurately in the EMR
