Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent RN experience; at least 1 year in Med/Surg Telemetry specialty within the last 3 years (medical-surgical RN, telemetry RN, or oncology nurse preferred)
- Active RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at submission) — Ohio nursing license or multistate compact RN encouraged
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- EPIC charting experience required (electronic medical record competency)
- Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Ability to float to other Med/Surg Oncology units as needed
- Two professional references required (one must be from a manager/director or formal leader)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care for oncology and medical-surgical patients, including administration of chemotherapy, blood products, and symptom management
- Monitor and manage continuous cardiac telemetry; interpret dysrhythmias and respond appropriately (telemetry RN duties)
- Care for arterial lines, central/PICC lines, and manage ports
- Perform IV starts, tracheostomy care/management, and assist with chest tube insertion/removal
- Administer and titrate high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) therapy and other respiratory support in collaboration with Respiratory Services
- Use clinical equipment including GE telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, bladder scanners, and Stryker beds
- Follow infection prevention protocols, patient fall precautions, and safe chemotherapy handling practices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: Physical Therapy, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Nursing leadership
- Float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed while maintaining clinical competency
