Position Overview
Join the dedicated team at the Birthing Center in Hickory, North Carolina, as a Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) for a 13-week travel nursing assignment. This obstetrics nursing job offers hands-on labor and delivery and Mother/Baby care in an 18-bed birthing center. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,570 – $1,650
- Location: Hickory, NC 28602 (North Carolina travel nursing opportunity)
- Unit: 6120 Birthing Center (18 beds)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), option to flex to a 4th shift
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse, On-site Labor & Delivery RN
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend minimum
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience, including Mother/Baby/postpartum care
- Travel nursing experience preferred (travel nurse, travel L&D nurse)
- Valid Registered Nurse license (NC RN preferred; compact license considered). License must be active or pending with ETA clearly stated
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- AWHONN Advanced and Intermediate certifications preferred
- Experience with electronic charting systems and accurate documentation
- COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Core Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to laboring mothers and newborns in a fast-paced birthing center
- Circulate for C-sections, assist with obstetrical triage, and support deliveries
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and other emergent obstetric conditions
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:2 for safe, high-quality care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, etc.)
- Accurately document patient care and communicate handoffs to ensure continuity
- Participate in scheduled weekend coverage and flex shifts as needed
