Travel Nurse Job Details — PCU RN, Columbus, OH
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940 – $2,040
- Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus healthcare opportunity, Ohio nursing jobs)
- Setting: Medical Oncology PCU (18 East and West, Medical Oncology PCU) — high-acuity adult & adolescent care
- Contract Duration: 16 weeks (Start: 6/29/2026 – End: 10/19/2026)
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours (19:00 – 07:30), 3 shifts per week — ideal for travel nurses and night shift RNs
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratios: 1:3 PCU; 1:4–5 Med Surg Telemetry
- Orientation: Week 1 Mon–Fri dayshift; Week 2 36 hours on-unit with preceptor
- Flexible Scheduling: Self-schedule requests accommodated
Qualifications — PCU RN / Progressive Care Nurse Requirements
- At least 1 year of current PCU specialty experience within the last 3 years (PCU RN or Progressive Care Unit experience)
- Valid RN license (compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Required certifications: BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support), ACLS, NIHSS
- Epic charting system experience required (Electronic Health Records / EHR experience)
- 2 professional references (at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Previous travel nurse experience preferred
- Oncology RN experience preferred but not required (medical oncology, oncology nursing)
Core Responsibilities — PCU / Medical Oncology RN
- Provide high-acuity, evidence-based nursing care to medical oncology patients, including solid tumor, orthopedic, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
- Assess, monitor, and interpret dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Administer blood products and manage cardiac drips; chemotherapy administration preferred
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, ports, and peripheral IVs
- Care for feeding tubes, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and surgical drains
- Initiate and utilize rapid response teams and follow infection prevention protocols
- Operate specialized equipment: GE telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, Stryker beds, PCA pumps, high-flow nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP
- Float to other PCU or MedSurg Oncology units as required; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, case management)
