Please note: The new, state-of-the-art palliative care unit opens on 7/1. Travelers starting before this date will float to inpatient units until their training is complete and the new unit is operational.

Job Requirements — Palliative Care RN Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (palliative care, hospice, med-surg experience preferred)
- Valid compact or Ohio RN license in hand at time of submission (Ohio nursing jobs / RN license)
- BLS certification required
- EPIC charting experience required (electronic health record proficiency)
- Graduated from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Two professional references (one from manager/director or formal leadership; Charge RN acceptable for second)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
Primary Responsibilities — Palliative Care RN / Travel Nurse Duties
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered palliative care focused on comfort, dignity, and symptom management for adults and geriatric patients
- Assess and manage pain, severe nausea/vomiting, fatigue, dyspnea, and other distressing symptoms using pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
- Perform and manage peripheral IVs, central lines, and ports; manage PCA pumps and conduct pain assessments
- Support patients and families through advanced illness and end-of-life care, including bereavement planning and spiritual needs assessment
- Provide postmortem care and perideath support for families with sensitivity and professionalism
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams: IV team, PT, RT, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and others
- Float to inpatient units as needed during orientation and training to support staffing and continuity of care (especially prior to the new unit opening on 7/1)
