Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nurse
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1910 - $2010
• Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (Richmond area) — Virginia nursing jobs
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (April 20, 2026 – July 18, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights, every other weekend, and one major holiday required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: 29-bed Medical/Telemetry (adult patient population) — Telemetry RN
• Travel Requirement: Must reside outside a 50-mile radius (no local candidates)

Travel Nurse Requirements / Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
• BLS certification (AHA) required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass EKG competency exam at orientation (study guide provided)
• Minimum 1 year RN experience with Medical-Surgical Telemetry (Med/Surg Tele experience required)
• Proficient with lab draws and peripheral IV starts
• Ability to float to Med/Surg and Ortho units as needed
• Strong clinical judgment, telemetry monitoring skills, and patient-centered communication

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, interpret telemetry and clinical data, and develop individualized care plans
• Safely administer medications per state and facility policies and document medication administration accurately
• Coordinate patient care and act as the primary point of contact for care coordination and discharge planning
• Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Independently draw labs and start peripheral IVs; manage IV therapy and fluid/electrolyte needs
• Provide care for patients with multi-system organ failure and complex medical-surgical conditions
• Monitor telemetry alarms, recognize rhythm changes, and intervene appropriately in collaboration with providers
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, students, and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care
• Float to other units as needed and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions with professionalism and compassion
