• Shifts: Nights — 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 - 07:30)
• Total Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics (inpatient psychiatric care)
• Unit Size: 37 beds, average daily census of 30
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or Compact state (required)
• Minimum 1 year recent inpatient psychiatric / behavioral health RN experience (preferred for travel RN roles)
• BLS certification (required)
• Certification in Aggressive Management / CPI or similar de-escalation training (preferred)
• Experience with Cerner electronic charting system (preferred)
• Comfort managing a patient ratio of approximately 1:6 on night shift
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• First-time travel nurses are welcome — supportive onboarding provided

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a locked behavioral health unit
• Perform comprehensive mental health assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement & evaluate nursing interventions
• Document patient care and progress accurately using Cerner (electronic health record)
• Employ crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and safe management strategies for agitated or aggressive patients
• Support voluntary and involuntary commitment procedures, and follow seclusion/restraint protocols per policy
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including psychiatry, social services, pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and other clinical staff
• Participate in unit meetings, self-scheduling, and may float within the hospital as needed within scope of practice
