- Position: Hospital Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pediatrics (NICU/PICU preferred)
- Location: Washington, DC 20010 — Located in a vibrant city known for its rich history, iconic landmarks, and diverse neighborhoods. - Setting: Level I Pediatric Trauma Center; Teaching & Magnet Hospital
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 26 weeks) — travel respiratory therapist / contract role
- Start Date: April 13, 2026
- Shifts: 12-hour days (07:00 – 19:30), 3 or 4 shifts per week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (up to 48 hours available)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,650 – $1,770
- Charting / EHR: Cerner (experience with Cerner preferred)
- Dress: Any solid color scrubs (child-friendly; no logos)
- Parking: Offsite parking required for day shifts ($35–$50/month)
Qualifications & Job Requirements
- Active DC RRT license required (active or pending at time of submission; must be active by start date)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- BLS and PALS certifications required prior to start
- Minimum 1 year recent pediatric RRT experience required; 2+ years strongly preferred (NICU/PICU experience preferred)
- Ability to float within scope to NICU, PICU, and CICU as needed
- Travel experience preferred, especially for first-time travel respiratory therapists
- COVID-19 vaccine and booster required (no exemptions)
- References available upon request
Key Responsibilities — Pediatric Respiratory Care
- Provide high-quality respiratory care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults in a fast-paced, acute pediatric environment
- Perform advanced respiratory procedures: aerosol therapy, airway management, mechanical ventilation, high-frequency oscillation, and specialty pediatric interventions
- Interpret arterial blood gases and lead ventilator weaning protocols for pediatric patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, RT team) to deliver comprehensive respiratory and critical care
- Float between critical care units (NICU, PICU, CICU) as patient care needs require
- Document respiratory assessments, treatments, and progress notes in Cerner EHR accurately and timely
- Complete mandatory orientation and training modules prior to start and maintain compliance with hospital policies
