Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 – $2,130
• Location: Petersburg, VA 23805 — Travel Nurse Position (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Setting: Medical/Surgical Telemetry (Unit 5E), 30-bed unit (can flex to 37 beds)
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 4/20/2026 – End: 7/18/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days, 36 hours per week; every other weekend and one major holiday required
• Type: Travel RN (must reside outside 50-mile radius)

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care RN experience (medical-surgical and telemetry)
• Minimum 1 year of travel RN experience required (travel nurse, travel RN jobs)
• Med/Surg Telemetry experience required — telemetry nurse competency
• Current RN license in Virginia or a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Must pass EKG exam at orientation (study guide provided) — EKG competency expected
• EPIC EHR experience preferred (electronic medical record experience)
• CAPD experience preferred
• NO local candidates — must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Petersburg, VA

Key Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and develop individualized care plans (acute care RN duties)
• Administer medications safely and document medication administration accurately
• Interpret telemetry strips, monitor cardiac rhythms, and manage dysrhythmias (telemetry nurse responsibilities)
• Provide care for post-op, trauma, and minor orthopedic patients on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit
• Safely operate and monitor equipment including Alaris pumps, Hercules beds, BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomies, chest tubes, and enteral tube feeds
• Coordinate patient care across departments and act as a point of contact for patients and families (care coordination)
• Float to other Med/Surg units as needed and collaborate with monitor techs, CNAs, sitters, charge nurses, and the rapid response team
• Advocate for patient safety, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and support relationship-based care
