  • Position: Travel Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pediatric ECMO / Hospital Respiratory Therapist
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,050 – $3,280 (competitive weekly pay for travel RRT roles)
  • Shift: 3 x 12-hour days (07:00 – 19:00), rotating days/nights
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Weekend Coverage: 2 weekends per 4-week departmental scheduling period
  • On-Site Position: Hospital-based; PICU/ICU and cardiothoracic service lines

Qualifications / Job Requirements

  • Active Michigan RRT license (must be in hand at time of submission)
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Respiratory Therapist; critical care/ICU or PICU experience preferred
  • ECMO experience required (prior ECMO specialist experience at an urban/academic medical center accepted for first timers)
  • EPIC EMR/EPIC charting experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
  • Two manager/supervisor references required (charge RNs not accepted)

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized respiratory care and ventilator management for pediatric patients on ECMO (stable ECMO patients)
  • Manage patients with congenital heart disease, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and respiratory failure in PICU and ICU settings
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot advanced ECMO equipment including Cardiohelp and PediMag; perform ECMO circuit management
  • Maintain patient care ratios of 1:1 (occasionally 1:2 for pediatric circuits) and 1:3 for adults with remote monitoring
  • Document all care, ventilator settings, and interventions using EPIC electronic medical records
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, perfusionists, and ECMO specialists to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
  • Participate in departmental scheduling, weekend coverage, and unit-based clinical responsibilities as required
