• Location: Salem, VA 24153 (Salem, Virginia)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Travel assignment)
• Start Date: April 27, 2026
• End Date: July 27, 2026
• Setting: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR), 2 OR suites (cardiac/cardiothoracic)
• Shift: 10-hour days (06:45 – 17:15)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,920 – $2,060 (competitive travel pay)
• On-Call: Weekday, weekend, and holiday call required
• Dress Code: Light blue scrubs provided
• EMR: Meditech

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR / cardiac OR Surgical Technologist experience (cardiovascular surgical technologist)
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Operating Room Technician (ORT) certification
• Active BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience scrubbing and assisting in cardiovascular procedures (CABG, valve surgery, pacemaker/ICD, endovascular AAA repair)
• Ability to float to other OR areas as needed (general surgery, thoracic, vascular)
• Flexible, knowledgeable, self-starting, and team-oriented perioperative professional

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and the CVOR team during a variety of cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures, including CABG, thoracotomy, endovascular AAA repair, valve replacement, and pacemaker implantation
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field, perform instrument counts, and ensure aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Ensure proper handling, setup, and availability of surgical instruments, implants, and specialty equipment (cardiac, vascular, electrophysiology tools)
• Collaborate with perioperative RNs, CSTs, and surgical staff to provide optimal patient care (1:1 patient ratio when required)
• Document procedures, instrument usage, and patient information accurately in Meditech EMR
• Participate in on-call rotation for weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required by the CVOR team
