Qualifications & Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or compact state (Nurse Licensure Compact / NLC compliance)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry (Med/Surg Tele) nursing experience
• At least 1 prior completed travel assignment required (travel nurse experience preferred)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Clinical skills: IV start and telemetry monitoring required
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Must live at least 100 miles from facility (no local candidates)
• Cerner experience preferred (electronic health record / EHR experience helpful)

Responsibilities (Med/Surg Telemetry Nurse)

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg Telemetry unit (medical-surgical and telemetry nursing)
• Care for post-surgical, overflow, and observation patients with strong assessment and clinical judgment
• Manage patient assignments typically 1:6–1:7, transitioning to team nursing with LPN support as needed
• Perform telemetry monitoring, medication administration, IV therapy, and accurate documentation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, and Case Management
• Float between like units and campuses within a 20-mile radius as required
• Participate in weekend and on-call coverage as required by the facility
• Adhere to facility policies, compliance, safety standards, and infection control practices
