Med/Surg RN – Night Shift travel nurse opportunity in Janesville, WI. Seeking a Registered Nurse with 1+ year Med/Surg experience, current Wisconsin RN license, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and BLS/CPR certification to staff a Med-Surg Ortho & Neurology unit for a 13-week travel nursing assignment. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
- Location: Janesville, WI 53548 (Rock County)
- Role: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Ortho & Neurology
- Setting: Med-Surg Ortho, Neurology Unit
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 7, 2026 – July 7, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday required
- Type: Travel Nurse, On-site
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience (Med/Surg, Orthopedics, or Neurology preferred)
- Current, active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- Education verification required
- Willingness and ability to float to other units as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience or recent inpatient Med-Surg travel assignments
- Experience with orthopedic post-op care and neurology/stroke patients
- Strong clinical judgment and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, patient-centered care using the nursing process on a Med-Surg Ortho & Neurology unit
- Administer medications and treatments per hospital policy and approved techniques
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient education in the medical record to meet clinical standards
- Develop, initiate, and implement individualized patient care plans and discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, procedures, post-op care, and stroke precautions as directed by providers
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members—including physicians, physical therapists, and case managers—for coordinated care
- Participate in unit performance improvement efforts and shared governance initiatives
- Provide clinical expertise and mentorship to other staff and escalate patient safety concerns promptly
