• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 05/04/2026 – End: 08/03/2026)
• Location: Springfield, Illinois (62781) — Illinois travel nursing opportunity at a Level I Trauma Center
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,320 – $2,440
• Shift: 4x10-hour day shifts (06:45 – 17:15)
• Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend shift per month
• On-Call: Yes, approximately 1 per week (may be less frequent)
• Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center; 23 operating rooms
• Charting: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Provided
• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Qualifications — OR RN / Perioperative Nurse

• Minimum 3 years recent Operating Room RN experience in a Level I Trauma setting (trauma OR nurse experience required)
• Active Illinois RN license (in hand or in application process)
• BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross only)
• CNOR certification preferred
• Travel nursing experience required (previous travel OR RN preferred)
• Must live at least 50 miles from facility to apply
• Experience with Cerner charting system preferred
• Required case experience across service lines: General OR, Trauma, Bariatric (laparoscopic), General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple), Neurology (cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), Orthopedics (arthroscopy, carpal tunnel, fracture reduction), Plastic Surgery (free flap/microvascular), Transplant (organ donation), Urology (cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy), Trauma (amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA)
• Emergency management experience: code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
• Equipment/instrumentation: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables
• Professional skills: blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol, urinary bladder catheterization
• Ability to float within skill set as needed

Core Responsibilities — Operating Room Nurse / Surgical Nurse

• Circulate and/or scrub for a wide variety of surgical procedures across all service lines except cardiovascular
• Provide patient-centered perioperative care in a fast-paced, high-acuity Level I Trauma environment
• Respond to trauma and emergency situations as part of the multidisciplinary trauma team
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, surgical techs, and support staff to ensure safe surgical flow
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety protocols, universal protocol, and hospital policies
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide weekend coverage as scheduled
• Float to other units within scope of practice as needed
• Accurately document care, interventions, and procedures using Cerner
