• Role: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN), Travel Nurse, Medical-Surgical RN
• Setting: General Med/Surg Unit (includes post-op ortho and general surgery patients)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: May 11, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:30 PM – 7:00 AM), every other weekend required. Shift Duration: 12-hour nights.
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:6, occasionally 1:7
• Uniform: Royal Blue scrubs
• EMR / Equipment: Cerner EMR, Mindray Telemetry System
• Floating: Required as needed (rare); may float to ICU or Step Down for Med/Surg overflow
• Call: Required but rarely needed

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience (Medical-Surgical RN experience preferred)
• Active RN license (compact license accepted where applicable) — New Mexico RN license or ability to meet state fingerprinting requirements
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and Cerner charting
• Ability to float to ICU or Step Down units as needed
• Fingerprinting required for all New Mexico travelers (agency must be registered with the state)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care on the Med/Surg unit, including post-op ortho and general surgery patients
• Assess and monitor patient conditions, administer medications, and document care accurately in Cerner
• Operate Mindray telemetry systems and respond to telemetry alerts as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, therapists, case management) to support optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain patient safety, follow hospital policies, and participate in unit-based initiatives
• Float to ICU or Step Down for Med/Surg overflow when required and participate in call rotation
