Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (required)
- Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) certification in Massachusetts (required)
- Active RD or RDN credential preferred (Registered Dietitian / Registered Dietitian Nutritionist)
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Dietitian in a hospital or psychiatric/inpatient behavioral health setting
- Strong knowledge of clinical nutrition care standards, therapeutic diets, and documentation
- Excellent communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, and electronic health record documentation skills
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with dietary services and the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive inpatient nutrition care
- Identify patients at nutrition risk and assess diet orders based on age, psychiatric diagnosis, and clinical status
- Evaluate physical and behavioral limitations impacting nutritional status and intake
- Calculate metabolic needs including energy, protein, fluid, and micronutrients tailored to psychiatric patients
- Recommend individualized nutrition interventions and therapeutic meal plans based on patient data
- Document initial and ongoing nutrition assessments, progress notes, and care plans in the EHR
- Oversee completion of diet slips and ensure special dietary needs are addressed (three times weekly or as required)
