Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Location: Hilo, HI 96720 — Big Island travel nursing / Hawaii nursing jobs
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: May 18, 2026 – End: August 17, 2026)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours (scheduled following first week of orientation; no guarantee of hours)
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (Any)
- Unit: Cardiac Progressive Care (CPCU), 15-bed unit (3 Step-Down ICU, 12 Telemetry)
- Floating: May float to Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, and ER units as needed
- Dress Code: Scrubs
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Active RN license in Hawaii required by start date (must apply upon acceptance if not already held)
- At least 1 year of acute care hospital experience within the last year
- Progressive Care (PCU) and telemetry experience preferred — experience in step-down/telemetry units a plus
- ACLS preferred; PALS preferred; NIHSS certification preferred
- Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
Responsibilities
- Provide primary nursing care to adult patients in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (CPCU/PCU)
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and respond to cardiac changes
- Perform point-of-care testing including fingerstick blood glucose checks
- Document clinical care in Meditech electronic health record (EHR)
- Use Pyxis medication dispensing system and manage medication administration per hospital policy
- Operate continuous cardiac monitoring equipment and non-invasive ventilatory support (BIPAP) when indicated
- Float to other acute units (Medical, Surgical/Peds, ICU, ER) as staffing needs require
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, respiratory therapy, case management — to deliver high-quality cardiac and progressive care
