Job Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT)
- Minimum 1 year of hospital respiratory therapy experience (critical care/acute care preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to work independently on night shift with minimal supervision
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient education skills
- Experience with ventilator management, NIV, high-flow oxygen systems, and patient transport a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed in a hospital setting
- Evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and implement physician-prescribed respiratory therapies
- Explain treatments, tests, and respiratory equipment to patients and provide discharge education
- Administer ventilatory support, oxygen therapy, and aerosolized medications; manage ventilators and conduct ventilator weaning following protocol
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, and review chest x-rays
- Perform 12-lead EKGs, pulmonary function studies, arterial punctures, and assist with respiratory care procedures
- Provide tracheostomy care, monitor ventilation efficiency, and maintain ventilatory equipment
- Follow laboratory testing policies and infection control procedures where applicable
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines and participate in code responses
- Document treatments and patient responses accurately, communicate with physicians, and complete thorough shift hand-offs
- Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charges and perform other duties as assigned
