Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,200 - $2,310 (Competitive travel nursing pay)
- Location: Los Alamos, NM 87544 — Northern New Mexico travel nurse opportunity
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – July 20, 2026)
- Shift: 8-hour days (06:30 – 15:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Call Requirements: As needed; 10–16 days per month depending on staff
- Facility: 47-bed acute care hospital with 3 ORs, 3 PACU beds, and 5 Pre-op beds
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 (perioperative nursing, surgical RN)
- Orientation: Weekly, on Mondays
- Systems: Documentation with CQI and Medhost EHR
Job Requirements (Qualifications)
- Minimum 2 years recent Operating Room RN / perioperative nursing experience
- Active RN license eligible for New Mexico employment (or compact RN where applicable)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, HWC (must be submitted with application)
- Fingerprinting and background check required prior to hire (New Mexico state requirement)
- Professional demeanor with ability to care for all age groups (pediatrics to geriatrics)
- Travel nursing experience preferred but not required
- Hospital-provided scrubs required; casual wear and open-toed shoes not permitted
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures
- Serve as circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse in the OR as needed (Operating Room RN duties)
- Monitor patient status, maintain safety, and participate in surgical time-outs and infection control
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, PACU staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Float to Pre-Op and PACU as needed to support perioperative flow
- Participate in call rotation and respond to emergent surgical needs
- Document accurate patient care in CQI and Medhost EHR; support quality improvement initiatives
