Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Amarillo, TX | 13-week contract. Seeking an experienced Med/Surg travel nurse for a busy Ortho/Neuro adult & geriatric unit with EPIC EMR — top travel nursing opportunity in Amarillo, Texas.
Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: May 4, 2026
- Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts (07:00 - 19:30); 36 or 48 hour options available
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,460 - $1,540
- Setting: 35-bed Ortho/Neuro Med/Surg Unit (orthopedic nursing, neuro nursing, medical-surgical)
- Location: Amarillo, TX 79106 — ideal for Texas travel nursing jobs and Amarillo healthcare jobs

Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience (2 years preferred); orthopedic or neuro experience a plus
- Active RN license (Texas or compact state license accepted)
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Recent EPIC EMR experience within the last 6 months (EPIC charting required)
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (local traveler restrictions apply)
- Ability to float to units of equal or lesser acuity as needed
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and documentation skills
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with orthopedic, neurological, and medical-surgical needs
- Perform focused neuro checks, post-op ortho care, wound care, and medication administration
- Manage a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 while prioritizing patient safety and quality outcomes
- Use EPIC for accurate charting, medication reconciliation, and interdisciplinary communication
- Collaborate with PT, RT, pharmacy, social services, and case management for coordinated patient care
- Float to similar-acuity units as required and participate in onsite orientation and ongoing training
- Follow infection control, isolation protocols, and facility policies at all times
