Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 – $2,250
- Position: PICU Registered Nurse / Pediatric Cardiac ICU RN (PCICU)
- Location: Durham, NC 27710 — travel nurse job / local candidates accepted (within 75 miles)
- Employment Type: Travel Contract (travel nursing)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: Targeted May 4, 2026 or May 18, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30); every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) / Pediatric ICU
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of recent PICU RN experience (pediatric critical care nurse)
- Active North Carolina RN license in hand or active Compact RN license
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Experience with Epic electronic health record preferred
- Experience in community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- First-time travel nurses welcome; local RN applicants encouraged
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients, including complex congenital heart conditions
- Care for patients supported by advanced cardiac and life-support devices: VADs, ECMO, CRRT, ventilators, arterial lines
- Administer medications, blood products, and chemotherapy as indicated
- Perform and assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, and central line care
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and pediatric dysrhythmias
- Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary care with IV teams, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and physicians
- Float to other units as required and support unit staffing needs
- Work every other weekend as part of the rotation
