Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 – $2,250
• Position: PICU Registered Nurse / Pediatric Cardiac ICU RN (PCICU)
• Location: Durham, NC 27710 — travel nurse job / local candidates accepted (within 75 miles)
• Employment Type: Travel Contract (travel nursing)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Start Date: Targeted May 4, 2026 or May 18, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30); every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) / Pediatric ICU
• Patient Age Groups: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent PICU RN experience (pediatric critical care nurse)
• Active North Carolina RN license in hand or active Compact RN license
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Experience with Epic electronic health record preferred
• Experience in community hospital, LTAC, or Trauma Level I/II preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• First-time travel nurses welcome; local RN applicants encouraged

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients, including complex congenital heart conditions
• Care for patients supported by advanced cardiac and life-support devices: VADs, ECMO, CRRT, ventilators, arterial lines
• Administer medications, blood products, and chemotherapy as indicated
• Perform and assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar puncture, and central line care
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and pediatric dysrhythmias
• Maintain strict infection control and isolation precautions
• Collaborate in interdisciplinary care with IV teams, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and physicians
• Float to other units as required and support unit staffing needs
• Work every other weekend as part of the rotation
