Job Details – Travel Nurse / Med-Surg RN
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,680 – $1,770
- Position: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN), Night Shift
- Location: Homewood, Alabama (zip 35209) – near Birmingham, AL
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15), every other weekend required
- Hours per Week: 36 (guaranteed; up to 3 cancellations per contract)
- Unit: Med/Surg, Neuro Acute Care (24 beds); typical patient ratio 1:6
- EMR / Tech: Cerner, BCMA

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg RN experience (neuro / post-stroke acute care preferred)
- Active RN licensure (must be in hand to submit)
- BLS (AHA) required; NIHSS certification required (must be in hand to submit)
- Proficiency with dysphagia screenings and stroke assessments
- Experience with BCMA and Cerner EMR for accurate medication administration and documentation
- Strong time management and interdisciplinary communication skills
- Ability to float to other acute care units and facilities within a 25-mile radius
- Professional, adaptable, hardworking, and patient-centered
- Compliance with dress code: navy blue scrubs, TJC and CMS fingernail guidelines, closed-toed shoes with backs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care in a Med/Surg / Neuro acute care setting as a Travel RN
- Perform neuro and post-stroke care, including dysphagia screenings and NIHSS stroke assessments
- Administer medications and document care using BCMA and Cerner EMR
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care
- Manage time and patient workload safely with a typical 1:6 ratio
- Float to other units or nearby facilities as needed to support acute care operations
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and dress code
