Job Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Location: Asheville, NC 28801 (Buncombe County) — Asheville surgical tech jobs / North Carolina travel assignments
- Setting: Hospital Operating Room (OR) / Perioperative Department
- Role: Travel Surgical Technologist / Scrub Tech / Operating Room (OR) Technician
- Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour day shifts)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,320 – $1,420
- Employment Type: Travel Contract — hospital surgical tech opportunity
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist or Surgical Tech in a hospital operating room setting
- Certification preferred: CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) or ORT (Operating Room Technician)
- Broad perioperative experience across service lines including general surgery, GYN, robotics, neuro, orthopedics, plastic surgery, urology, burn, and trauma
- Must score 3 or higher on Skills Checklist for Neuro, Ortho, and Vascular
- Ability to work a variable schedule and participate in call rotation as required
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient safety focus; experience with Cerner documentation is a plus
Responsibilities
- Function as an integral member of the perioperative team: scrub, pass instruments, and anticipate surgeon needs across multiple specialties
- Prepare and maintain a sterile field and operating room environment following hospital protocols and AORN guidelines
- Set up, verify, and account for surgical instruments, sterile supplies, and specialized equipment (including robotics and neuro instrumentation)
- Support patient safety and positive surgical outcomes by adhering to infection control and OR safety standards
- Float to other departments as needed to support hospital operations and maintain staffing flexibility
- Accurately document procedures, sponge/instrument counts, and patient information using Cerner or other electronic health record systems
