Travel OR Tech – First Assist in Asheville, NC | 13-week contract at a leading hospital in Asheville, NC, $1,850–$1,990/week. Join a dynamic surgical team as a Surgical Technologist / First Assistant in the facility's Main Operating Room, working with advanced robotics and a broad range of surgical specialties in the Blue Ridge Mountains (Asheville, NC 28801).

- Position: Operating Room (OR) Technician / First Assist (Travel Surgical Technologist)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,850 – $1,990
- Location: A leading hospital in Asheville, NC 28801 — travel OR tech job in North Carolina
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (March 9, 2026 – June 8, 2026)
- Shift: 10-hour days (6:45 AM – 5:15 PM), flexible scheduling, call required
- Hours per Week: 40
- Number of Positions: 2

- Setting: Main Operating Room with robotics (DaVinci, Mako, Velys) and multiple surgical specialties
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year experience as an OR Tech, Surgical Technologist, or First Assist
- Required certification: CSTFA, CFA, or RNFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant / Registered Nurse First Assistant)
- Experience assisting surgeons in ortho trauma, spine, neuro, GYN, general, robotics, vascular, pediatrics, ENT, plastics, and ocular/OMF cases
- Familiarity with Cerner electronic documentation (Cerner experience preferred)
- Comfortable with advanced OR equipment, including DaVinci robots, Mako, and Velys systems
- Flexible schedule and willingness to take call; reliable travel availability for a 13-week contract
- Strong communication, teamwork, and sterile technique skills
Key Responsibilities (First Assist / OR Tech)
- Provide first assist support to surgeons during complex procedures across multiple specialties: Ortho Trauma, Neuro, Spine, GYN, Urology, General Surgery, Robotics, Vascular, Pediatrics, ENT, Plastics, Podiatry, OMF, Dental, and Eye Trauma
- Operate, set up, and maintain advanced OR equipment and robotic platforms (5 DaVinci robots, Mako, Velys)
- Perform sterile technique, instrument passing, retraction, and tissue handling as a first assistant
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in Cerner for surgical cases and patient care
- Maintain a 1:1 patient ratio when required and ensure optimal intraoperative patient safety
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and surgical support teams
- Adhere to hospital policies, unit guidelines, and infection control procedures
