Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Ohio
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA CCC-SLP)
- BLS Certification (AHA)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist; acute care or hospital SLP experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Evaluate assigned patients and develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans in accordance with patient needs and physician direction
- Provide inpatient speech therapy services, including dysphagia screening and management, cognitive-communication therapy, and language/speech rehabilitation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, nursing, PT/OT, case management) to address barriers to discharge and ensure coordinated patient care
- Complete accurate and timely medical record documentation, including daily notes, goal writing, functional assessments, and discharge summaries
- Promote patient and staff safety by adhering to hospital guidelines, infection control, and safety protocols
- Participate in professional development, advocacy efforts, and student supervision as assigned
- Maintain compliance with state practice acts, ASHA professional standards, and hospital policies
- Demonstrate flexibility in caseload management and coverage to meet patient care needs
- Perform other duties as requested to support patient care and hospital objectives
