Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech) in an OR or perioperative setting
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent military surgical technologist program
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
- Traveler must live at least 90 miles away from the facility
Responsibilities
- Function as the scrub person (scrub tech) under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, maintaining aseptic technique
- Prepare and set up operating room and instrumentation for cases; ensure equipment functions properly
- Prepare case carts according to preference cards and interpret preference cards to procure instruments and supplies
- Coordinate with OR staff and sterile processing to ensure timely instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases
- Review daily surgical schedule with charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify turnover delays and scheduling issues
- Assist with coordinating breaks and lunches, delegating duties, and managing core phone communications
- Serve as a resource for procurement of necessary items and collaborate with materials management on supply utilization
- Support patient safety and surgical excellence through consistent adherence to perioperative best practices
