Job Requirements
- Completion of an accredited registered nurse (RN) degree program
- Minimum of 3 years full-time professional nursing experience with medical-surgical patients or equivalent clinical wound care experience
- Current and active Registered Nurse license in the State of Pennsylvania (PA RN)
- Board certification in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing (WOCN / CWOCN or equivalent Wound Care Certification)
- Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
- Proven skills in wound assessment, pressure injury staging, stoma care, and wound management
- Strong communication skills; ability to function as a team member and liaison between patients, families, and clinical staff
- Professionalism, tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and emotional resilience when caring for acute and complex patients
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) documentation preferred
Responsibilities
- Serve as a wound care consultant to staff and patients for skin prevention, wound assessment, treatment planning, ostomy (stoma) care, and continence management
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments, recommend evidence-based dressings and therapies, and monitor wound healing progress
- Provide bedside and formal education to patients, families, and staff on wound care best practices, stoma care, and continence management
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapy, and nutrition to develop individualized care plans
- Document clinical findings, care plans, and outcomes accurately in the EMR and support quality improvement initiatives related to wound and ostomy care
- Promote harmonious communication, teamwork, and best-practice adherence within the unit
- Maintain professional boundaries and a high level of emotional tolerance while providing compassionate patient-centered care
