Travel Oncology RN (12-hr nights) — 17-week contract in Albany, GA. Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with 2+ years oncology or med-surg experience to provide high-quality patient care on an acute oncology unit.
Join a dedicated team as an Oncology RN in Albany, Georgia, where you'll care for patients with acute oncology symptoms, hematology needs, sickle cell crisis, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and end-of-life care. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800 - $1,890
- Location: Albany, GA (zip 31701) — travel nurse / travel RN opportunity
- Setting: Acute Care – Oncology Unit (29 beds, 7th floor)
- Contract Duration: 17 weeks (April 27, 2026 – August 24, 2026)
- Shift: 12 Hour Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours: 48 hours per week (guaranteed)
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5 (occasionally 1:6)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Rotate in with staff
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
- Charting System: MEDITECH
Job Requirements
- At least 2 years recent clinical experience in Oncology or Medical-Surgical nursing (Oncology RN preferred)
- Active RN license (Georgia or compact state)
- BLS certification (AHA required)
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS certification preferred for chemotherapy administration; chemotherapy administration experience preferred
- Must provide a valid driver's license and live at least 75 miles from the facility (travel nurse eligibility)
- No first-time travelers; experienced travel RNs only
Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to oncology and hematology patients, including management of acute oncology symptoms and end-of-life care
- Administer medications and IV therapies, assist with chemotherapy administration per facility policies (ONS preferred)
- Assess and manage patients with sickle cell crisis, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, and medical overflow
- Provide patient and family education related to diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including nurse aides, charge nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Utilize central monitor telemetry for patient surveillance (reading strips not required)
- Maintain accurate charting and documentation using MEDITECH
- Complete 3-day floor-specific orientation and rarely float to medical acute units as needed
- Participate in scheduled holiday and weekend rotations
