Travel Surgical Technologist (CST) – 13-week contract in Upper Marlboro, MD. Neuro & ortho operating room (OR) focus, competitive weekly pay, start 05/04/2026 (or ASAP). Join a busy hospital surgical tech team serving adolescent through geriatric patients in the Washington, D.C. metro area.

Job Details

• Position: Travel Surgical Technologist / Surgical Tech (CST)
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,580 – $1,690
• Location: Upper Marlboro, MD 20774 (Prince George's County; Washington, D.C. area)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: 05/04/2026 (or ASAP)
• Shift: 4 x 10-hour days (06:45 – 17:15); flexibility to rotate shifts as needed
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend/On-Call: Every third weekend (approx. one per month); up to 6-7 on-call shifts per 4-week schedule
• Setting: Hospital Operating Room (8 ORs) — perioperative, neuro, orthopedic cases
• Patient Population: Adolescents through Geriatrics

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Surgical Technologist experience, strong neuro & orthopedic OR experience required
• Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
• Active BLS certification (AHA only)
• Experience in community hospital OR setting required; Level I/II trauma experience preferred
• Must have active MD or Compact state license at time of submission
• Comfortable floating within specialty/department and adapting to multiple ORs
• First-time travel Surgical Techs welcome with strong clinical experience
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two professional references required (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN acceptable)
• Permanent residence must be 50+ miles from facility

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and perioperative team in a wide range of surgical procedures, with emphasis on neurosurgery and orthopedics
• Prepare and maintain sterile field, ensure surgical instruments and OR equipment are sterile and functioning
• Support patient positioning, instrumentation, specimen handling, and accurate surgical counts
• Adapt to different OR teams and float within the hospital as needed while remaining within scope of practice
• Participate in scheduled on-call and weekend rotations
• Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety protocols, and perioperative standards
• Document perioperative care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, anesthesia, pharmacy, respiratory, support staff)
