Job Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,630 – $1,750
• Setting: Hospital Clinical Laboratory (Columbus healthcare)
• Shift: Nights, Monday–Thursday (4x10-hour shifts, 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Start Date: May 18, 2026
• Location: Columbus, OH 43203 (Central Columbus, close to parks, dining, and cultural attractions)

Qualifications / Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS)
• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology required; Bachelor’s in medical technology or biological science preferred
• Active certification: ASCP MLT or MLS, or AMT certification accepted
• Recent proficiency with EPIC EMR system required
• Prior travel lab tech experience preferred (travel medical laboratory jobs)
• Ability to provide two professional references (one from a manager or supervisor)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)

Key Responsibilities

• Process patient specimens using prescribed methodologies and laboratory instrumentation in a hospital clinical laboratory
• Perform routine automated and manual testing in Chemistry, Immunochemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Transfusion Services
• Verify, document, and report test requests and results using the laboratory computer system and EPIC interface
• Perform and record quality control, quality assurance, and preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments
• Monitor instrument performance to ensure accuracy and precision of clinical results
• Recognize, troubleshoot, and document problems with patient samples and testing processes
• Communicate critical lab results promptly to healthcare providers and support clinical decision-making
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital and regulatory standards
• Assist in training new staff and medical technology students; support a safe, organized laboratory environment
