Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1800 - $1890 (competitive travel nursing pay)
• Location: Hilo, HI – Big Island, Hawaii nursing jobs; ideal for travel nurses seeking Hilo, Hawaii opportunities
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (June 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days (0645 to 1915), scheduled 36 hours per week following orientation
• Employment Type: Travel RN, On-Site
• Orientation: Arrive Thursday before start for employee health appointment on Friday

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in Cardiac Stepdown, Cardiac RN/Telemetry, Med-Surg, or related acute care units
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii OR eligibility to apply for a Hawaii RN license upon acceptance
• BLS (Basic Life Support) required; ACLS preferred. Additional certifications such as PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC are a plus
• Experience with Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and chest tubes; strong documentation and electronic charting skills
• Professional nursing attire – clean scrubs required
• Proof of immunity required (medical/religious exemptions not accepted)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care in the Cardiac Stepdown unit (Cardiac RN duties, telemetry monitoring, and post-op cardiac care)
• Float to Medical, Laulima (Surgical Acute), and Cardiovascular units as needed to support patient care
• Monitor and manage patients recovering from cardiac events and cardiac surgeries, including medication administration and hemodynamic monitoring
• Utilize specialized equipment including wound vacs and chest tubes; perform cardiac and respiratory assessments
• Document patient care accurately and timely using Meditech EMR; maintain clear communication in the medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (cardiology, surgery, respiratory therapy) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Adapt to varying nurse-to-patient ratios (Medical 1:6, Laulima 1:6, Cardiovascular 1:4) and participate in unit-specific training and orientation programs
• Provide patient and family education related to cardiac conditions, recovery expectations, and discharge planning
