Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent respiratory therapy experience with NICU or neonatal specialty required
- Recent travel experience preferred (ideally 3 completed travel assignments)
- Active North Dakota Respiratory Therapist license (must be obtained prior to start)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the NBRC (new grads must obtain registry within 12 months)
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA), and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Application packet: current resume, skills checklist with individual procedures, and proof of licensure
Responsibilities
- Perform and document respiratory evaluations and patient assessments in the NICU
- Provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory treatments, including ventilator management and non-invasive support
- Assist physicians during bedside procedures and neonatal resuscitations; maintain NRP competencies
- Deliver patient- and family-centered education and clinical support for respiratory care
- Monitor and identify changes in neonatal condition; communicate with interdisciplinary care team and document appropriately
- Conduct pain assessments and implement protocol-driven interventions
- Complete required documentation: order entry, EMR charting, medication records, incident reports, and equipment tags
- Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, assembly/disassembly of respiratory equipment, and report repairs
- Provide high-quality critical care during transport of infants to and from referral health systems
- Perform other duties as assigned to support NICU and hospital operations
