Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,440 - $2,620
- Location: Chicago, IL 60637 (Hyde Park) – Illinois pharmacist jobs
- Contract Duration: 12 weeks (travel contract)
- Shift: Night shift, 10 hours (9:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Seven shifts on, seven shifts off
- Employment Type: Travel, On-Site – travel pharmacist opportunity
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy
- Registered Pharmacist in the state of Illinois or eligible for Illinois licensure
- Completion of an ASHP accredited residency highly preferred
- At least 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience in an organized health care setting (2 years preferred)
- Pediatric pharmacy experience required; experience with pediatric dosing and medication safety preferred
- Exceptional aptitude or knowledge may be considered in lieu of experience
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all medication orders, including drug selection, dose, frequency, safety, allergies, drug interactions, and disease state interactions
- Assess patient-specific information such as age, weight, medical characteristics, and laboratory results prior to dispensing medications to ensure safe pediatric dosing
- Provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles for pediatric patients
- Deliver clinical pharmacy services overnight, including medication safety checks, verification of high-risk medications, and participation in medication reconciliation
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, ensuring timely preparation and delivery of medications, IV therapy coordination, stock replacement, and general area cleanliness
- Conduct nursing unit inspections, check for expired medications, perform refrigerator checks, and maintain medication dispensing procedures and compliance
- Ensure proper handoff to management regarding overnight shift issues and escalate clinical or operational concerns as needed
