Travel Nurse Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930 - $2,030 (competitive travel nursing pay)
• Location: Weirton, WV 26062 — Med/Surg RN jobs in West Virginia
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 10, 2026 – July 10, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour days; weekends as scheduled
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Care Setting: Acute care, Medical-Surgical Unit (48 beds)
• Charting System: Cerner (Cerner experience preferred)

Travel RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the U.S.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from AHA
• Minimum 1 year of recent medical-surgical (Med/Surg) nursing experience
• First-time travel nurses welcome — travel nursing jobs and Med/Surg RN roles available
• Submission must include a copy of candidate's unexpired driver’s license
• Any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities (Travel Nurse)

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based acute care nursing to patients with common medical-surgical diagnoses including pneumonia, UTI, altered mental status (AMS), GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls, and generalized weakness
• Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of approximately 1:5–7 on day shifts
• Titrate IV drips such as heparin, bumex, and lasix as required (no cardiac drip titration)
• Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care technicians, and respiratory therapists to coordinate patient care
• Monitor respiratory equipment and patient respiratory status (RT manages equipment; RN monitors patient condition)
• Perform vital signs, blood glucose monitoring (BGM), EKGs, apply heart monitors, and assist with activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning
• Float as needed to other Med/Surg, Med/Surg-Telemetry, or Intermediate Care (IMC) units for lower-acuity patients
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled

Orientation & Expectations

• Attend 1 day of orientation with educator for unit and computer system overview
• Complete 1 day of orientation with an assigned preceptor on the unit
