- Position: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse / PCU Float RN / Telemetry Nurse
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: May 18, 2026
- End Date: August 17, 2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910 – $2,010
- Shift: 3x12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15) — Night shift travel RN
- Hours per Week: 36
- Setting: Resource Nursing Pool (PCU/MS Float) — stepdown/med-surg float role
- Charting: Epic (Epic experience required)
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active RN license (Virginia or Compact State) — eligible for travel nursing in VA
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Stepdown/Telemetry experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Experience with Epic electronic charting system required
- Proficiency in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
- Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support (CPAP/BiPAP, chest tubes)
- Competence in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and titrating cardiac drips
- Ability and willingness to float between PCU and Med-Surg units; frequent floating expected (every ~4 hours possible)
- Comfortable working on a Rapid Response/Code team and responding to emergencies
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in PCU/stepdown and Med-Surg settings
- Float between units based on staffing needs (potentially 2–3 times per shift) as a PCU float RN
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and monitor patient responses, including blood products
- Interpret cardiac rhythms, titrate cardiac drips, and respond to emergencies as part of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Manage PCA and heparin protocols, IV insulin, and care for endocrine/metabolic conditions
- Provide care for pre/post cardiac cath patients and those requiring telemetry/stepdown-level care
- Perform central line and trach care, support non-invasive ventilation (CPAP/BiPAP), and assist with chest tube management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, Pharmacy, and Social Services to coordinate patient care
- Document all care accurately and promptly in Epic
- Work at least one holiday during the contract and complete required orientation/module training in the first week
