Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU transport experience required — experienced neonatal transport RTs preferred
  • Active RRT or CRT credential; state licensure as required for travel assignments
  • NRP and PALS certifications required; STABLE preferred
  • Annual transport competencies and current transport experience
  • Proficiency with Hamilton, Cross Vent, and TXP ventilators (transport ventilator experience)
  • Experience with paper documentation systems and accurate transport charting
  • Ability to wear black-on-black scrubs (required uniform)

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced neonatal respiratory care during ground and air NICU transport as a transport RT
  • Manage neonatal airways, including mask ventilation, airway stabilization, and securing advanced airways
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot transport ventilators and isolette/incubator systems
  • Monitor and manage oxygen supply, equipment restraints, power sources, and safety during transport
  • Assist with line placements (PIV or UVC) and overall transport stabilization as part of the neonatal transport team
  • Perform point-of-care testing (ABG/CBG, glucose, etc.) and interpret results for transport decisions
  • Document all transport events, interventions, and patient assessments accurately and timely
  • Communicate effectively with transport team members, EMS, and sending/receiving facilities to coordinate safe transfers
  • Adhere to safety protocols, infection control practices, and crisis management procedures for neonatal transport
