Job Details
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890 (Travel Nurse weekly pay)
- Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 — Blue Ridge Mountains (Roanoke travel nurse jobs, Virginia nursing jobs)
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15), 3 shifts/week (night shift, 12-hour)
- Unit: Neuro PCU / 7S NCC PCU (Progressive Care Unit, neuro stepdown)
- Patient Ratio: 1:4–5 (PCU patient ratio)
- Charting: EPIC required (EPIC experience)
- Weekend/Holiday: May require every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block; must work one holiday per contract
Required Qualifications (Travel Nurse RN)
- Active RN license (Virginia or Compact) — Registered Nurse required
- Minimum 1 year recent PCU or neuro stepdown experience (neuro progressive care / stroke nurse experience preferred)
- EPIC charting experience required (electronic health record experience)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required)
- Comfortable managing 1:5 patient ratios in a PCU setting
- Previous charge experience preferred
- COVID-19 and seasonal Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
Core Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses, including stroke management, seizure/epilepsy monitoring, and neurosurgical recovery
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies: dysrhythmia interpretation/management, Rapid Response and Code team participation
- Administer medications, cardiac drips (no titration), IV therapy, blood products, and manage central and peripheral lines
- Deliver respiratory support including nasal cannula, O2 administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols to maintain infection control
- Float to other units within your clinical skillset as needed (flexible clinical support)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV therapy, respiratory therapy, physical/occupational therapy, and social services
