Travel nursing L&D RN opportunity in Ottumwa, IA — 13-week Labor & Delivery travel contract (nights) with competitive weekly pay. Join a regional health center serving Southeast Iowa and provide compassionate maternal-newborn care.
Job Details – Travel Nursing (L&D RN)
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract (Travel Nurse, L&D RN)
- Location: Ottumwa, IA 52501 (Southeast Iowa nursing job)
- Start Date: April 27, 2026
- End Date: July 7, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Shifts per Week: 3 (36 hours/week guaranteed)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,470 – $2,600
Travel RN Job Requirements
- Active RN license (Iowa or compact state) — RN jobs in Iowa, travel nurse eligibility required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience (travel nursing experience preferred)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and STABLE
- Mandatory reporter certification (Child and Adult)
- Ability to float to other units within the hospital as needed (flexible clinical support)
- Successful completion of background checks (including Iowa SING BG, counties, and states)
- 10-panel drug screening (including opiates)
- Recent titers (within last 12 months) for MMR, Hep B, Varicella, and TB
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in the L&D unit (Labor and Delivery nurse duties)
- Monitor patients using intermediate fetal monitoring and Philips TraceVue equipment (fetal monitoring experience preferred)
- Maintain patient ratios: active labor 1:1, couplet care 3:1
- Document care and assessments accurately in Meditech EHR (electronic health record experience)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (OB physicians, CNMs, neonatal staff) to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Float to other units within the hospital as needed to support patient care and staffing
- Uphold high standards of patient safety, quality care, and clinical best practices
