- Facility Level: Level 1 Trauma Center (critical care exposure)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 6:45 AM start)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-site: On-site position (local campus float may be required)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090 – $2,200
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years recent PCU or Med-Surg experience required (progressive care / step-down or critical care exposure preferred)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois required (Iowa license accepted on offer)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
- Clinical experience with chest tubes, femstops, tracheostomies, continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), drains, and central lines
- Proficiency administering/titrating cardiac and vasoactive medications: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Isuprel, Milrinone, Argatroban
- EPIC EMR documentation experience preferred (accurate charting and clinical documentation required)
- Must not have been employed by UnityPoint in the last 12 months
- Taxable address must be outside a 50-mile radius from the facility (travel nurse eligibility)
- Required at submission: driver’s license, resume, skills checklist (within 1 year), license verification, required certifications, and 1 supervisory reference
- First-time travelers welcome — this is a great opportunity for nurses new to travel RN roles
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to PCU and step-down patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
- Monitor and manage patients requiring advanced cardiac and respiratory support, including telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring
- Perform and manage procedures such as chest tube care, tracheostomy management, drain care, and central line maintenance
- Administer and titrate critical medications and vasoactive drips per protocol and provider orders
- Accurately document patient care and interventions in EPIC EMR
- Float within the same discipline across local campuses as needed to support patient care (flexible, team-focused approach)
