Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC (Georgetown) – Zip Code 20007
- Role: ICU Registered Nurse / Critical Care Nurse (Travel RN)
- Unit: S44 Transplant ICU (24 beds, adult & geriatric patients)
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 5/18/2026 – End: 8/17/2026)
- Shift: Night – 3 x 12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30), weekends included in rotation
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,770 – $1,860 (competitive travel nurse pay)
- On-Call: No on-call required
- Float Requirement: May float to other critical care units of equivalent or lower acuity
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience as an ICU RN or Critical Care Nurse, including management of multi-system organ failure, dysrhythmias, and post-surgical critical care
- Active DC RN license required (pending DC license accepted for later start dates; license must be in hand prior to start)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Experience with Cerner electronic medical record preferred
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Ability to pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam if required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two (2) supervisor references required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in a busy transplant ICU
- Interpret and manage dysrhythmias, multi-system organ failure, IV insulin protocols, and post-surgical care (GI, thoracic, neuro, transplant)
- Manage ventilator support, external ventricular drains (EVD), ICP monitoring, and hypothermia protocols (Arctic Sun)
- Administer emergency medications and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips; perform phlebotomy and IV therapy
- Implement infection prevention and isolation precautions, including proper PPE usage
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, IV therapy, PT, social work, case management)
- Float to other critical care units as needed and participate in orientation and unit-specific competency modules
