• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890 - $1,990
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:00 – 06:30), every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 36
• Setting: Acute Care Hospital – Medical Surgical Neuro Unit (neurology nurse role)
• Charting / EMR: Cerner (Cerner experience required)
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue
• Parking: Free with permit

Required Qualifications — Neuro RN / Registered Nurse

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required at submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Neuro RN experience (neurosurgery, stroke/CVA care, TBI, SCI)
• BLS and NIHSS certifications (AHA or Red Cross only)
• Travel nursing experience required (travel nurse assignments preferred)
• Cerner charting experience required
• Availability for every other weekend coverage and 3x12 night schedule
• Ability to float within scope of practice as needed
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Teaching hospital and Level II Trauma experience preferred

Key Responsibilities — Neuro / Med-Surg RN

• Provide comprehensive nursing care for neuro patients: stroke/CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury (TBI)
• Manage surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), tracheostomy care, and respiratory support (CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, oxygen masks)
• Administer medications including Heparin, Insulin, PCA; transfuse blood products; manage IV therapies, ports, central/PICC lines, and start peripheral IVs
• Perform ostomy and feeding tube care, wound care including wound VAC systems, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Monitor telemetry remotely and respond to emergencies using Rapid Response Teams and established protocols
• Provide patient and family education on neurologic conditions, post-surgical care, and discharge planning
• Maintain isolation precautions and adhere to infection control best practices
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including IV team, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and pharmacy
• Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed per assignment
