CVICU Registered Nurse (Cardiac ICU RN) travel nursing opportunity in Falls Church, Virginia. 13-week travel contract for experienced cardiac critical care RNs with ECMO, IABP, Impella, CRRT and advanced cardiac therapy experience. • Role: CVICU Travel Nurse / Cardiac ICU RN
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,110 – $2,220
• Location: Falls Church, VA 22042 (Northern Virginia / Washington, D.C. area)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 25, 2026)
• Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (day/night rotation)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: 1 major winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) and as needed
• Floating: First to float to other ICUs, Stepdown/Progressive Care/IMC, and Tele Units as needed
• EMR: Epic
• Unit Size: 24 beds
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 (Stepdown 1:3)

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent, dedicated Cardiac ICU / CCU / CVICU experience (cardiac critical care RN)
• Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Recent competency with advanced cardiac therapies: VV/VA ECMO, IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump), TTM/Arctic Sun, Impella, CRRT, PA catheter guided therapy (ECMO nurse experience preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret EKG rhythm strips (cardiac monitoring skills)
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Floor orientation: 2 shifts

Responsibilities

• Provide expert cardiac critical care for post-op CABG, heart and lung transplant patients, cardiogenic shock, advanced heart failure management, complex arrhythmias, lytic care, post IR/PCI procedures, and TEVAR patients
• Utilize and manage advanced cardiac therapy modalities including ECMO, IABP, TTM/Arctic Sun, Impella, CRRT, and PA catheter guided therapy
• Monitor and interpret EKG rhythm strips and telemetry; respond to arrhythmias
• Manage and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips while maintaining patient safety and documentation
• Float to other ICU and stepdown units as needed to support patient care (flexible CVICU travel nurse)
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic EMR
• Adhere to unit dress code (Navy Blue or White scrubs)
