Job Details – Alexandria, VA Travel Nurse
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,040 - $2,140
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (April 27, 2026 – July 25, 2026)
- Position: PACU RN / Post-Anesthesia Care Unit with Pre-Op responsibilities (perioperative nursing)
- Shift: 4 x 9-hour shifts per week
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- On-call: 2-3 calls per 6-week period (weekday/weekend/holiday)
- Weekend Expectations: 1 weekend per 6-week period
- Orientation: 3 days unit-specific orientation
- Location: Alexandria, VA 22304 – convenient access to Washington, D.C. (DC-area nursing jobs)
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)
- Pre-Op experience required (perioperative/preoperative care)
- Active RN license (Virginia or compact state)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
- Experience with EPIC EMR (electronic medical records)
- Ability to read rhythm strips and monitor cardiac status
- Navy blue scrub color required
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, high-quality post-anesthesia care for patients in Phase 1 (15 beds) and Phase 2 (8 beds)
- Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 in PACU
- Care for patients after general surgery, orthopedic, urology, GYN, plastic, cataract, and spine procedures
- Float to Pre-Op as needed and support perioperative workflow
- Participate in on-call rotation with a 45-minute response time
- Collaborate closely with clinical techs, unit supervisors, anesthesia, and surgical teams
- Occasionally provide ICU-level care in PACU if ICU beds are unavailable
- Monitor for post-anesthesia complications and ensure safe recovery, discharge, or transfer
